Terms of Service

The plain-language rules for using Holt.

v1 draft — this page describes the product honestly, but has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer on the owner's behalf.

In effect since July 16, 2026.

What Holt is

Holt is an AI-assisted language learning tool, currently in early access. Expect rough edges — the product and these terms will both keep changing as it grows.

Accounts

You sign in with an email link — there's no password to manage, which also means whoever controls your inbox controls your account. Keep it secure. You must be 18 or older to use Holt.

Acceptable use

Use Holt to learn a language. Don't try to scrape, abuse, or overload the service, attempt to access another user's data, or use it for anything illegal.

AI-generated content

Practice cards, hints, and lessons are generated (by a language model, or by a deterministic fallback when one isn't available) and occasionally checked by another model before you see them. They can still contain mistakes. Holt is a study aid, not a certified course, and passing through it is not a guarantee of any exam result or proficiency level.

Availability

Provided on a best-effort basis during early access, without an uptime guarantee. We'll try to tell you about planned downtime in advance.

Ending things

You can delete a single language profile or your whole account at any time from Settings — see the Privacy Policy for what that actually removes. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use Holt after a change means you accept the new terms.
